Copenhagen Airport Cargo
Copenhagen Airport Cargo builds privacy-preserving visibility with Semantic
The customer
Copenhagen Airport Cargo (CPH) is a leading Northern European air-cargo hub serving airlines, handlers, forwarders and integrators across Scandinavia and the Øresund region.
The challenge
As cargo volumes, partners and service expectations grew, Copenhagen Airport Cargo needed a unified, real-time view of goods moving in and out of the airport—without exposing sensitive shipment data. Multiple systems, partner-specific formats and email-driven workflows made it hard to spot exceptions early, coordinate apron capacity and keep every stakeholder aligned while honoring strict confidentiality obligations.
The solution
CPH adopted Semantic, a PEPPOL-native logistics data platform, to create a secure, interoperable layer across handlers, carriers and forwarders. Semantic standardizes messages and milestones, de-duplicates events and enforces role-based data minimization, so each party sees exactly what they need—and nothing they don’t. With real-time milestone tracking for inbound and outbound flows, selective field redaction and complete auditability, the airport community gained shared operational awareness without sharing commercially sensitive details.
“Semantic allows us to maintain a seamless logistics process for our partners and gives us insight into the goods moving in and out of the airport—without accessing any confidential information.”
— Michael Giese, Senior Cargo Manager, Copenhagen Airport Cargo
Results
Copenhagen Airport Cargo now runs on a single source of truth for cargo movements, enabling faster exception handling, earlier signals on delays and dwell-time risks, and fewer manual status requests. Partners benefit from consistent, PEPPOL-standardized exchanges and clearer coordination across apron, warehouse and trucking operations. Confidentiality is assured through granular access controls and immutable audit history, while the airport’s digital foundation is ready to extend into finance documents and future use cases over the same access point.
Why Semantic
Semantic combines interoperability, security and fine-grained access control—the exact mix an airport cargo community needs to operate smoothly across many independent companies. CPH achieves shared visibility without shared secrets, aligning stakeholders while protecting competitive data.

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) is one of Northern Europe’s key air-cargo gateways and a natural bridge between Scandinavia and continental Europe. Located on the Øresund corridor with immediate motorway access and fast road-feeder connectivity, CPH enables rapid transshipment between air and truck.
The cargo district brings together modern airside stands, warehouses and a dedicated logistics park with build-to-suit options for forwarders, handlers, e-commerce operators and integrators. Operations run around the clock, with streamlined customs and security processes and facilities designed to support time-critical, temperature-sensitive and high-value goods.
For occupiers and developers, CPH Business offers plots and turnkey opportunities within the cargo zone, allowing companies to scale next to the runway and within minutes of both central Copenhagen and Malmö.
